Marching into April... Courage Continued

I am a nervous, nervous little mess right now. I decided to post up my first ever singing video right here on this blogg... I have been talking about this for years, and I mean 39483 years about posting a video up.. ok maybe not that many years.. buttt for a long while. I finally mustered enough courage, to just sing it and post it, and i really just want to dedicate this song/video to my parents. I think the hardest part about March, is remembering the passing of the love of my life, my daddy. And my mom has supported me through everything and continues to do so. This song has resonated with me throughout the past two years, and I thought I would never be in such a good place. Here's to living courageously and growing up.

(Pardon my very terrible video editing skills, since there is an awkward spot right in the middle of the video... lol, you'll see it when you watch... buttt I decided to set my perfectionism aside and just do it. Woah.. courage is srsly the word for 2013...)

Besides trying my hand at video making & singing.. I can cross that one off my courage challenge to do list finally!! :D March was also the month I:

  • Signed up for the Color Run for September!! I am so pumped!! And cutest of all, we decided to call our team Pandapowaa ( like pandapower,, except with a pow!) CANNOT wait for it!! Anyone else running in the DC Color Run?!
  • Entered in my first body transformation challenge. Sayy whaaa?! Lowering my body fat to 15% is my goal right now for this challenge, I'm currently at 24% which is 2% less than I started out 11 days ago. Its super duper crazy... cause I would have never in a million years imagined that I would do a challenge like this.
  • Starting going to zumba class, I've only been to two classes. And I have to say,, I love itt, even if I am super uncoordinated and all that. I don't care as long as I sweat it out.
  • oh... and I got to ya know go to Paris, one of my favorite cities in the world, despite having no luggage the entire trip. lol!! But who cares, the eiffel tower is gorjess, and just being in Paris makes me swoon. :D
As I'm evolving, I'm trying so many more things that are wayyyy out of my comfort zone. And this is just the beginning of that... I really need to overcome a lot of my other fears too.. but this blog is pushing me beyond that, and I really enjoy sharing my life here.. even though sometimes I have a hard time with knowing what to put on here and what not to... but I'm learning as I go. March was a really exciting month, it just seems like life keeps getting better and better, and I am just so grateful and blessed to have the opportunities that I have.

Have a wonderful, magical, beautiful weekend!!

Kelly

Real Talk Tuesday: No Excuses

"There's a big difference between trying to do something and actually doing it. The truth is, we're either doing it or not. We use excuses to cover up the fact that we didn't put in the required effort to deliver. There's no excuse for being late, for not handing in an assignment, for failing an exam, for not spending time with your family, for not calling your girlfriend, and so forth. You can manufacture an excuse that's socially acceptable, such as having too much work or being sick but if you really wanted to deliver you'd figure out a way to make it happen.

Making excuses, or giving reasons for not delivering, is socially acceptable because it makes you sound   "reasonable". But even if you feel obliged to make excuses to others, you shouldn't make them to yourself."

- What I wish I knew when I was 20 by Tina Seelig

^^ This is real talk. It sounds super harsh, but its reality.

If you really want to do something, there is no can't, there is only a won't. You aren't willing to do it.

The only thing you can really do is keep the promises you make to yourself and to others and keep 100% integrity with yourself!

If you can't do something, then just be honest about it.

Prioritize what you want, and you won't have any excuses to not do something.

Your either doing something or not, so whats your excuse?

Starting a new chapter in my life, has been really different, because it means getting a thicker skin to what people say, feel or think about me. But to live a truly extraordinary life, you must do things that are at first difficult, but will be overcome! :) And its foolish to listen to what others think when your heart knows exactly what it needs to do. Follow your intuitions my loves. Here are some of my favorite motivational or random articles I read that interested me this week!
Have a great weekend lovelies! <3 Hope its a beautiful one!

Color Shocker.

I am definitely craving Spring weather right now! I'm sooo over this cold bi-polar weather. To get into spring time weather, I thought why not try putting on some lip color, it'll make you feel sexier, and put that extra spring in your step. ;) Plus its a fun way to transition from all this blah weather to spring and summerrr!! Eekk. if you can't tell I'm excited for warmer weather lol!!

I've only recently started wearing more lipstick, and even though I don't wear it as often as I'd like. I'm loving it. Its the easiest and fastest way to prettify yourself, or brighten up your look, I literally put some concealer, mascara & pink or red lipstick and roll outtt! I'm currently loving Revlon's Lip Butter's, and Revlon's JustBitten lipstain & balm.

Are you guys ready for spring weather or what?!

tangy travels: bonjour paris

Phew, so this past week has been a whirlwind adventure to say the least! lol. I just got back from Paris, France, again!! And it was so great, super cold, but worth it!! :)

Definitely had a crazy start to our trip since our flight was cancelled, and then it got delayed at Munich, Germany for a night Oh, andd.. we never recieved our luggage the entiree trip!!... so we had to wear the same outfit a couple of days, cause we didn't have time to go shopping.

On our last day, we were able to finally visit Avenue de Champs Elysses, and the Arc de Triomphe. I just love walking around on the French streets, and taking it in. And eating macarons, and pink champagne.. umm. yes please!! Oh and the parties! ;)

The beautiful Eiffel tower, this is one of my favorite monuments next to the colosseum. It just takes my breathe away every time!! <3

I loveee the Hermes window displays, since we only had Sunday to really explore, and many of the stores were closed, we got to do some window shopping lol! I loved that they used delicate paper cutouts as the display, its so charming and fun!

Ate an amazing meal at the infamous Laduree. My meal consisted of hot duck foie gras, scallops, and delicious pastries & macarons ( pistachio being one of my favorites). I am still thinking about their pastries lol!!

Aside from eating tons of croissants ( not pictured, since I devoured them), lol and enjoying the atmosphere of Paris. I can't wait to return, and really go shopping, with our luggages the next time! I am so grateful that I'm able to travel the world. I miss the romantic city already, and will be back soon enough!! <3

Easy Peasy Tip: Water, Water!

With spring fast approaching, that means prepping for summertime is starting right about now!! Yayyy!! Everyone wants to get beach body ready!! One of my favorite health /get fit tips, is drinking more water!! And anyways if your working up a sweat, you'll definitely need to stay hydrated ( don't forget to also drink something with electrolytes, for particularly sweat-filled workouts!)! Its the easiest thing to do, seriously!!

Why drink more water?

  • Our body consists of 70% water, not 70% soda, coffee or juice!! We constantly need to replenish the water, since we lose 3 quarts of it everyday through sweating, respiration and urine.
  • Decreases your chance of cancer!! The Journal of Epidemiology held a 6 year study, where drinking 5 or more glasses of water a day can reduce the risk of heart attack for as high as 41% compared to drinking 2 or less. The research, also shows staying hydrated can reduce the risks of bladder cancer by 50%, and colon cancer by 45%!
  • Think clearer & be more focused!! Our brain is 80% water, so drinking more water can ensure the brain is getting nourishment! Drinking 8 - 10 cups of water a day can improve cognitive performance by 30%.
  • Did you know that your body typically has 7-10 pounds of poop inside just your colon alone?! That's crazy to even think about, drinking more water, can help soften these thangs, and clean out the toxins in your body, getting rid of all that funkyjunky-ness! A little TMI, but hey, gotta clean it out!

Water, Health, Drink more Water

Not a fan of water? Spice it up by adding some flavor. Some of my favorites include adding:

  • Cucumber
  • Strawberries
  • Honey & lime
  • Lime & lemons

So even though you are trying to look hot for the summer, drinking water, should be an all year round thang! Keeping you hydrated and sexy all the timee!!  Its a simple & easy way to not only get an awesome bodayy but keep your mind sharp, and keep cancer away! That's pretty sweet if I don't say so myself!

Kelly

March alreadyyy?!?

Wow, so I can't believe its already March!! Where did February go?!? Anyways here's a little recap of what was going on in my month of February!
  • I am totally revamping this blog, making it more simplistic and more "me". I am constantly worried about what people will think because this is such a new and different blog that I'm creating. But I'm working on battling that fear and pushing it out of mind! Ya gotta be uncomfortable to get comfortable!
  • Been really dedicating myself to my newest clients as a wellness coach. My business is really getting started, and I love it a lot! Helping people was definitely one of the missing pieces in my life. I love talking with them, and helping them to get positive health results! The most memorable is when my best friend, lost 10 pounds and started exercising everyday, and committing to a healthy active lifestyle! I am so proud of her!!
  • Getting ready for Paris next next week!! I'm so so super excited!! :D
  • I'm really excited & kinda slightly nervous because there is a DC Metro Area Body Transformation Challenge that I will be joining!! Ah, deadline is March 23, if anyone is in the DC, MD or VA area who wants to join with me, email me for more details: thetangylife@gmail.com. Courage Challenge #2 of the year!!! Yikes, this is def wayyyy out my comfort zone!
Any who, I hope your enjoying your weekend!! And look out for more blog posts coming soon! Thanks for all your lovely comments & support!  <3 <3 Hope February was awesome for you all!

Kelly
